Job Detail:

This is a Sr. position, that requires EXPERT level Red Hat Linux skills with strong networking and storage awareness

Summary:
Install, configure, and support an organization*s Red Hat Linux servers, Solaris, local area network (LAN), and storage area network (SAN).
Responsible for installing, monitoring, and maintaining a network of Red Hat systems to ensure network availability to all system users.
The technical skills include the ability to maintain network hardware and software and troubleshoot problems.

Education/Experience
o Associate degree in computer related field required. Bachelor degree in computer science preferred.
o 8-10 years experience required

Responsibility level
o Exercises independent judgment with minimal direction from supervisor

Skills
o Red Hat Linux administration experience to the expert level.
o EMC storage( an advanced leve)l.
o Cisco networking ( an advanced level).
o Solaris 9/10 administration nice to have.
o mySQL/Hadoop experience is plus.

Familiarity in Load balancers/TCP/IP internals is essential
Cisco SAN/Brocade Switches.. unified switches.
o Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills (Required)
o Strong ability to work independently and manage one*s time (Required)
o Strong ability to troubleshoot advanced problems using vendor, peer, and Internet support resources (Required)
o Strong knowledge of computer hardware and software as it related to LAN/WAN (Required)

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
o Build and maintain Red Hat infrastructure in support of a mission-critical application running in IBM Websphere Application Server
o Administrator of Development Lab consisting of 80 HP and Sun servers, Cisco LAN, and 6TB SAN
o Non-root administrator of Quality Assurance environment consisting of 50 servers
o Direct managed service provider to perform data backups and disaster recovery operations
o Direct managed service provider to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary
o Review and approve the planning and implementation of network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware
o Must learn quickly and deal easily with vendor support organizations
o Fulfill the design, configuration and testing plans of computer hardware, networking software and operating system software
o Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and counsel organization on where changes will need to be made in the future
